For Information On your Country Try...

The UN site http://www.un.org is easy to navigate. You should try initially to find your issue under the link Issues on the UN Agenda. When you open that link you will find topics such as terrorism, sustainable development, the question of Palestine, labor, development cooperation, refugees etc. Clicking on those issues will bring up further links to appropriate agencies, conventions, documents, and programs. You can also just go directly to the site of the agency you are interested in.

If you are trying to research information on the politics, history, and policies of specific countries try going to the US State Dept. site (www.state.gov) and linking to the country background notes page. Or try the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk) to regional links (top left) then to country profiles where you can select your country. It's also beneficial to try to access the official government website of your country (you can 'google' 'government of _______') and go to the foreign ministry link, then try to find policy statements concerning the specific issues you are interested in. You can also go to these regional sites (for Latin America www.oas.org, for Africa www.africa-union.org, for Asia www.aseansec.org, for Arab countries www.arableagueonline.org).

For recent international news and more country specific news, in addition to the BBC, try these sites New York Times (www.nytimes.com) Christian Science Monitor (www.csmonitor.com), The World Press (www.theworldpress.com), African News (www.allAfrica.com), Asian News (www.asianetnews.net), Arab and Middle East News (www.arabicnews.com), and for Latin American News try the news links in the left column of the front page (http://lib.nmsu.edu/subject/bord/laguia). You might be able to 'google' your country by going to www.news.google.com, then to top stories, then to the drop down menu to your country.
